Old Gold

Investing in Old Gold Coins
Everyone is looking to buy gold these days and as the value of the dollar falls the price of gold will continue to rise. People are looking for the security of having a physical commodity in their possession that will not only always have a monetary value but will most likely continue to rise over time.
Investors are looking for bullion which is valued by its weight. Collectors are searching for things like old gold coins that not only have a high bullion value but carry a premium as a rarity.
Certain coins are harder to come by than others and gold coin collectors and dealers are always on the lookout for the most highly prized old gold coins. These coins, also called numismatic or semi-numismatic, have values placed on them by several determining factors.
The value of numismatics depend on metal value, perceived rarity, current demand, quality, market sentiment, general economic and other factors. Rarity is amongst the most important of these characteristics as if only a certain amount of coins exist, they will obviously fetch a higher premium. The condition of old gold coins is also very important because if a very rare coin like a Saint-Gaudens $20 piece is beat up to the point of being unrecognizable, it will be priced more closely to the spot price of gold than the same coin in perfect condition.
Most collectors acquire these coins because of their beauty and craftsmanship. If a coin is beat up it has no value to a lot of people even though it would still attain market bullion value. Those looking to simply invest in gold will not have a large interest in numismatics as they are typically offered for much higher than spot price.
When investing in bullion it is wise to hold on to the coins for at least 3-5 years. This timeframe is what experts consider an optimal range that will yield the highest returns. For numismatics the recommended holding period is a little longer due to the fact they carry a higher spread. Collectors and investors in these coins are encouraged to hold on to these types of gold coins for at least 5-10 years to overcome these spreads and realize potential profits.
Another thing to consider when shopping for old gold coins is to be sure and watch out for counterfeits. It’s not that common of a practice but there definitely fakes out there. It’s hard to imagine anything worse than investing thousands of dollars into a rare coin and finding out it is aluminum.
It’s for reasons like this and many more, that make researching a very important step, when investing in gold coins. Take the time to know what your goals are, who you are dealing with and the quality of the old gold coins that you are considering purchasing. A safe and reliable transaction by the right gold dealer will give you peace of mind and make you want to do further business with that company.

Gold: Old School Jams $19.98 The terrain sampled here has been trod upon hundreds of times. However, since this double-disc set is part of Hip-O/Universal’s Gold series, it shouldn’t be disregarded on first sight. While anyone with a basic collection of funk, post-disco, or any other forms of club-oriented R&B spanning the ’70s through the first half of the ’80s will likely have a good percentage of the tracks on Old School Jams, a few gaps are bound to be plugged, and the sound quality is such that you might be able to replace some of those lower-budget discs you picked up during the late ’80s and early ’90s. Another winning factor is that the longer 12″ mixes are often used instead of single edits. Oft-compiled hits like the Commodores’ “Brick House,” Rick James’ “Super Freak,” and Rose Royce’s “Car Wash” are balanced with tracks that never seem to get their due, like Teena Marie’s “I’m Just a Sucker for Your Love” (at least not compared to “Behind the Groove” or “Square Biz”), Mary Jane Girls’ “All Night Long,” and Bobby Nunn’s “She’s Just a Groupie.” ~ Andy Kellman, RoviPerformers: Rick James – Vocals |

Old Flame $13.98 Out of all of Juice Newton’s albums, Old Flame has the strongest country roots and influences. Newton is still equally informed by rock and pop — after all, she doesn’t sing hardcore honky tonk on the album, she sings somewhat roots country pop . However, Old Flame proves that she can perform this material with conviction. Most of the production on the record is too slick and indicative of its time, but the singles — as well as Newton’s singing — remain effective. ~ Thom Owens, All Music GuidePerformers: Beth Andersen – Vocals (Background); Susan Boyd – Vocals (Background); Joe Chemay – Vocals (Background); Donna Davidson – Vocals (Background); Kenny Edwards – Vocals (Background); Jim Haas – Vocals (Background); Jon Joyce – Vocals (Background); Richard Page – Vocals (Background); Timothy L. The New Old $14.95 Focusing on the Baby Boomer generation, this argument explores how this group is permanently destroying previous attitudes toward aging, retirement, senior citizens, and even the concept of death. An analysis of welfare rates and health-care costs demonstrates that the Boomers are influencing everything from education and employment to housing, health, beauty, and sex. With solid statistical support, this groundbreaking study takes a closer look at new kinds of social relationships as well as new products that can reduce or even eliminate the effects of aging. The topics covered offer a sneak preview of an imminently new societyone in which receiving a gold watch at the age of 65 will simply mean the first half of life is over. |

Gold $16.98 Listening to Peter Frampton is like sitting in the back of an old station wagon on a hot summer’s day with all of the windows rolled down; it’s unremarkably comforting. The former British press-appointed “Face of 1968″ went from the Preachers to the Herd to Humble Pie before unleashing the record that would haunt garage sales for the next 30 years (Frampton Comes Alive!) and secure him a place in the pop culture totem pole. A&M’s surprisingly thorough and creative Gold series has been producing some wonderful two-disc compilations of classic rock artists that include both the bread and butter as well as the meat, a system that works wonders for the career of one Peter Frampton. Hearing “Doobie Wah,” “Show Me the Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do,” and “I’m in You” — the latter still featuring one of the best snare sounds ever — alongside immediate post-Humble Pie offerings like “It’s a Plain Shame” and “All I Want to Be (Is By Your Side)” as well as late-career oddities like “Theme from Nivram,” a way-cool, surf-heavy instrumental B-side from 1982’s Art of Control, paints the artist as more than just the guy who made the talk-box a necessary tool for aspiring guitar players everywhere. Frampton never meant to sell a million copies of a 1975 live concert in San Francisco; he just wanted to perform, and hearing him smile through covers both new (”While My Guitar Gently Weeps”) and old (”Jumping Jack Flash”) reveals a man and a boy who never fell out of love with the simple joy of playing rock & roll. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music GuidePerformers: Mick Gallagher – Clavinet, Organ (Hammond); Poli Palmer – Vibraphone; Andrew Bown – Bass, Mellotron, Percussion, Vocals (Background); Frank Carillo – Guitar, Guitar (12 String Acoustic), Guitar (Acoustic); Peter Frampton – Bass, Guitar, Guitar (Acoustic), Organ, Percussion, Piano, Talk Box, Tambourine, Vocals, Wurlitzer; Mike Kellie – Drums; Bob Mayo – Guitar, Organ, Organ (Hammond), Piano, Vocals, Wurlitzer; Stanley Sheldon – Bass, Vocals; John Siomos – Drums, Percussion; |

Silver And Gold Mining Camps of the Old West $72.98 The lure of gold in the American West beckoned to thousands of hungry settlers eager to stake a claim, reap the abundant wealth of the territory, and escape often difficult financial conditions at home, whether in Eastern cities, Europe or China. These prospectors found that Western gold and silver veins were elusive and subject to dry up with little notice. Forced to move often in search of the next big lode, they left behind them hundreds of mining camps and settlements, many of which still exist across the Western landscape. This reference work catalogs silver and gold mining camps state-by-state in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Each entry includes location, names of miners known to have worked the site, year of discovery, and ore value. Unique details of each camp are given, including historical facts, buildings and businesses present, and, frequently, interesting anecdotes about the resident miners. The work is indexed by topic and mine, and appendices offer a glossary and a copy of the Miners’ Ten Commandments, originally published in the Placerville (California) Herald in 1853. |

Old Testament Theology $31.98 Winner of a 2004 ECPA Gold Medallion Award! In this first volume of a proposed three-volume Old Testament theology, John Goldingay focuses on narrative. Examining the biblical order of God’s creation of and interactions with the world and Israel, he tells the story of Israel’s gospel as a series of divine acts:God BeganGod Started OverGod PromisedGod DeliveredGod SealedGod GaveGod AccommodatedGod WrestledGod PreservedGod SentGod ExaltedVolume two will focus on Israel’s faith, or Old Testament theology as belief. It will explore the person and nature of God, the nature of the world and humanity, the character of sin and the significance of Israel.Volume three will focus on Israel’s life, or Old Testament theology as ethos. It will explore its worship, spirituality, ideals and vision for living. This is an Old Testament theology like no other. Whether applying magnifying or wide-angle lenses, Goldingay is closely attentive to the First Testament’s narrative, plot, motifs, tensions and subtleties. Brimming with insight and energy, and postmodern in its ethos, this book will repeatedly reward readers with fresh and challenging perspectives on God and God’s ways with Israel and the world–as well as Israel’s ways with God. Goldingay’s Old Testament Theology is not only a scholarly contribution to the ongoing quest of understanding the theological dimensions of the First Testament. Preachers and teachers will prize it as a smart, informed and engaging companion as they read and re-present the First Testament story to postmodern pilgrims on the way. This is Old Testament theology that preaches. |

Getting Old Is Murder $7.99 She’s not Miss Marple. Her friends are no Charlie’s Angels. Nevertheless, 75-year-old Gladdy Gold and her gang of eccentric Fort Lauderdale retirees are out, about, and hunting down a killer–one who is silently stalking them. Selma Beller was the first to go–but Gladdy and her neighbors never suspected murder until another of their friends died in an eerily similar way. |
